Mavs split season opener with DMACC

The NOC Mavs opened the 2022 baseball season Thursday splitting a doubleheader with Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).

The Mavs won Game 2 7-6 after dropping the opener 5-4.

In Game 2, the Mavs were led by Geovanni Blackshaw who had two doubles and one run batted in.  Kyson Snelson had a triple and one rbi.

Barrett Rose, Lake Strickland, Nate Windle, and Cash Jay each had doubles for NOC.

Brendon Carter (1-0) earned the win tossing four innings while Malik Wilson earned the save.  Jacob Conner and Graeme Rios also pitched in relief for the Mavs.

In Game 1, the Mavs trailed 6-3 before rallying with two runs in the seventh losing 6-5.

Rose had two doubles and three runs batted in for the Mavs while Blackshaw added a double and Ryan Duncan a triple.

Ethan Louthan (0-1) suffered the loss with bullpen help from Conner, Wilson, and Billy Humphrey.

NOC hosts Ellsworth (IA) for doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday starting at noon.
