The NOC Mavs lost two high scoring affairs to Western on Sunday at Maverick Field.
NOC (16-13) lost 14-11 and 16-14 to the #14 Western Pioneers.
In Game 1, Western had just a little more offense than NOC Tonkawa outslugging the Mavs 14-11.
Barrett Rose, Darian Duhon, and Lake Strickland all homered against the Pioneers.
Strickland and Kysen Snelson had two hits each for NOC. Snelson scored three runs for the Mavs while Rose, Duhon, and Strickland scored two runs each.
Brendon Carter started for the Mavs with relief help from Graeme Rios and Jacob Conner.
In Game 2, the Mavs battled from an early six run deficit tying the Pioneers at 10-10 after six innings.
Western then outscored the Mavs 6-4 over the final three innings to earn the 16-14 win.
Rose homered for the second straight game while Nate Windle hit a three run shot.
Geovanni Blackshaw had three hits while Rose and Duhon had two hits each. Cash Jay added two runs batted in.
David Carr was the starter with bullpen work from Billy Humphrey, Caden Fiveash, and Ethan Louthan.
The Mavs host National Park March 26-27 in a four game series.
