TISHOMINGO, Oklahoma -- The NOC Mavericks rallied from a 17 point first half deficit to beat Murray State 64-63 Monday night in Tishomingo.
The win improved the 11th ranked Mavs to 16-1 on the season and 11-1 in the OCAC. Murray State (13-5) fell to 10-3 in conference play.
The Mavs were down 17 points in the first half rallying to cut the lead to 35-24 at the break.
NOC then continued to cut into the Aggies' margin in the second half taking a late lead and then holding off the Aggies for the win, the second in three days over Murray State.
Tyrel Morgan led the Mavs with 19 points while JD Ray had 14 and Dylan McLean 12. Morgan had six rebounds, Ray added five assists, and Nate Goodlow had five steals.
The Mavs shot just 35% from the floor while the Aggies shot 53%. The Mavs forced 23 Murray State turnovers.
"These last two games against Murray have been physical grinders," said coach Donnie Jackson. "I'm extremely proud of the grit that the guys showed on the road. They never gave up and found a way to win at the end."
"We have to turn our focus to Western (Thursday, March 25) now. We only have eight days left in the regular season and the importance of every game matters even more."
