The 7th ranked Northern Oklahoma College Mavs completed an unbeaten home season with a 71-64 win over Seminole Thursday at the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.
The Mavs (20-1) improved to 15-1 in conference play. Seminole (8-11) finished 6-10 in league play.
Avante Lederer led the Mavs with 17 points while JD Ray added 16. Tyrel Morgan had 11 and Dylan McLean 10.
Morgan had nine rebounds while Ray had nine assists. Nate Goodlow and Mark Berry had four steals each.
Thursday's win over the Trojans wasn't easy as the Mavs trailed at half and didn't take control of the game until the final two minutes when the Mavs went on an 8-1 run to seal the win.
"Seminole really came to play last night," said coach Donnie Jackson. "We didn't start off very well offensively, either. Once we got settled in, we started playing better. Avante really carried us in the 1st half. Our defense led the way in the 2nd half."
"I extremely proud of the sophomores," he added. " They have been a great group of young men that I have enjoyed to coach for the last two years. I can't say enough about their commitment to the program."
The Mavs open the Region 2 tournament against the Arkansas Baptist-Redlands winner on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The tournament is being held at the Stride Center in downtown Enid.
"Playoffs start next week," he said. "We need to take a day off to get our legs back. It's win or go home time now. We need to have a good week of practice."
The Mavs last won the OCAC title in 2012-13.
