16th Ranked Mavs Beat Murray State 3-0

The 16th ranked Mavericks moved to 7-1 with a 3-0 win over Murray State on Wednesday in Tonkawa.

The game started fast with both teams creating chances in end to end action.  It looked like the Mavs scored on two separate occasions, but the Murray State goalkeeper and a defender scrambled to clear the ball off of the line, and the referee deemed that the ball did not cross the line on either occasion.

Josh Bell would get the Mavs on the board late in the first half after taking a cross from George Robinson and deflecting the ball in the goal.

Midway through the second half Robinson would put the Mavs up by two.  The goal scoring chance started off of a Murray State free kick.  Nathan Asiedu headed the ball clear of the penalty box.  Midfielder Gio Herrera picked up the ball just outside of the box and dribble across the half line before playing a ball to a sprinting Rahmon Oduborisa.  Oduborisa crossed the ball to George Robinson who beat the goalkeeper for the Mavericks second goal.  Moments later Gio Herrera sent a corner kick to the back post where Kareem Williams headed the ball into the net.

The Mavs closed out the game as they have so many this year with reserve players seeing out the shutout.  It was Northern's fifth shutout of the year.

Northern will be on the road Sunday at NEO A&M at 4 p.m.
