Northern got back in the win column on Wednesday with a 3-2 win over Redlands Community College last Wednesday.

Redlands started the scoring in the first half with a shot that sailed over Northern goalkeeper Larissa Haagsma's head and into the goal.  The Mavs would even up the game minutes later with a goal from Janet MorenoRachael Chatterji played the ball to Moreno.  The Mavs would take the lead later in the first half with Moreno passing the ball to Milica Bulatovic.  Bulatovic smashed the ball into the upper corner of the goal to put the Mavericks up by a goal.

Early in the second half the dynamic forward duo of Moreno and Bulatovic would strike again with Moreno getting the goal this time and Bulatovic picking up the assist.  Redlands would draw within a goal late in the game playing against many of the Maverick reserves.  Once again the goal came on a high shot that went over the Maverick goalkeeper.  This time it was Jaime Rowlands in goal for the Mavs.  Northern was able to possess the ball the rest of the way to pick up the win.  The Mavericks took a season high twenty-seven shots on the day that saw them control the ball with great combinations through the midfield.

It wasn't all good news for the Mavs on the day though.  It looks like they may have lost another player, Tilly Wills, for the year with a lower leg injury.

"I thought it was our best game of the year offensively," said coach Michael DuRoy.  "Our passing was great at times, and our movement off the ball was much improved. We could have done better defensively though, and our goalkeepers have to quit giving up soft goals.  It was a step in the right direction overall.  I'm happy for the girls.  They are showing improvement."

"I feel bad for Tilly," DuRoy said.  "I hope she can recover from the injury as soon as possible.  We had a thin roster before her injury and this certainly doesn't help.  We will find a way to go on.  It's not the first bit of adversity we have faced this year."
